MPs can help with claims but they cannot make them for the claimant.

It depends on what you are trying to achieve.
If you need help understanding your entitlements or with completing forms than CAB would be a good place to start.
If you need help with getting DWP to make a prompt decision or suchlike, your MP might be able to help.

Go to the CAB, you MP will only be of help if the claim is taking a long time.

Following on from where I left off.
The mp wrote to them and DWP is saying that SDP can only be paid on ESA IR (assuming that means not on CB)
Which they can only award for 4 months.
I don't think I want to be on IR ESA though.
What do you think?

The DWP have the absurd belief that ESA is in fact two benefits ESA(CB) and ESA(IR), but it is not, it is a single benefit with two different payment methods. Whether you qualify for an ESA(IR) payment should always be considered especially in connection with the payment of a Premium.
If you currently receive ESA(CB) then you will only be paid ESA(IR) as a top-up and only if the ESA(IR) is more than you are currently receiving with ESA(CB).
If you are eligible to receive the Premium then it should be backdated to the first day that you became eligible, but this is not a battle that we can really help you with on the forum which is why I suggested you speak to a welfare advisor.
