I have just sent off today my husbands PIP form. He has had DLA for the last years on mental health grounds of depression and anxiety. Since the brown envelope dropped on the mat his anxiety is so much worse. Can ATOS force him to have a f2f assessment? We had to move just over a year ago into a bungalow because of my mobility issues. We have had to register at a new medical centre but as he rarely attends the doctors so they do not know him well. In the application form I have requested a home visit as it will cause severe psychological distress to go to a centre or even talk on the phone. Any advise would be appreciated.
Im sorry your husband's anxiety has worsened as a result of his application to change from DLA to PIP. The decision as to whether he will be required to attend a face to face assessment will be down to ATOS. In order for a request for a home assessment to be considered he will need a letter from his GP confirming the psychological distress a F2F assessment will have on him. Please be aware even with a GP letter your husband may still be required to attend an assessment at a centre. It may be worthwhile checking that his current GP practice have his up to date medical information from his previous GP practice.
