Blue Badge as PIP evidence? was created by lynnyv@hotmail.co.uk
Hello everybody,

I've recently applied for a Blue Badge from my local council and have been successful. I intend to write to the DWP and let them know this before they make their decision about my PIP.

I know that I automatically qualify for a Blue Badge if I score 8 points or more in the moving around component of PIP.

Does this also work the other way round? IE, if I have a Blue Badge then should I automatically score at least 8 points for moving around?

Thanks.
L.

I'm afraid it does not work like that, the Blue Badge will certainly help, but you will only receive an award for PIP Mobility by showing that you meet the PIP criteria for one.

The Blue Badge assessment is much more based on the old DLA criteria and the claimant being virtually unable to walk, whereas PIP is only concerned with the distance you can reliably walk on the majority of days
