PLEASE HELP- - BIPOLAR/BORDERLINE/SEVERE SPINAL ISSUES-FAILED MANDATORY RECONSIDERATION DUE TO REASONS BELOW (DWP ARE UNBEARABLE!)
On Monday December 11 2017, I attended an assessment review. I received the assessment decision on Friday December 16 2017 and my PIP enhanced and mobility award was reduced to the standard rate for both components.
Upon receiving the decision, I contacted DWP via telephone informing them I wished to contest their decision and requested a mandatory reconsideration.
Throughout the mandatory reconsideration process, I explained to DWP obtaining medical records takes times and constantly informed DWP of my progress via telephone.
Eventually receiving my medical records on Friday February 02 2018, I contacted DWP informing them I would be sending the medical records shortly as I was in the process of collating a lot of information. I explained I was struggling with, in addition to severe mobility difficulties, BIPOLAR 2, BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER & SEVERE SOCIAL ANXIETY, with no assistance. I confirmed with the customer service representative no decision had been made on the day of the telephone call, Friday February 02 2018.
On Friday February 09 2018, I received the mandatory reconsideration decision and DWP enforced the decision to uphold the reduced award on February 02 2018, without receiving the medical evidence I was in the process of assembling, which I made very clear.
I have both physical and mental health conditions, and the mental health aspect of my illness has been completely disregarded, unlike my prior claims and awards where it was taken into consideration.
I have to appeal this decision and would request the forum’s assistance to aid me in any way as I struggle due to my mental health disability.
I’m desperately trying to find guidance from resources such as an advocate, law centre etc. to no avail.
Finding the appeals process so confusing in my mind, I cannot even begin the letter. The threat of losing my car is causing suicidal thoughts, which concern me greatly me as I’ve attempted 3 times in the past and the emotional/mental torment is overwhelming.
This is extremely serious to both my mental/emotional and physical health and I hope my summary is somewhat clear.i
I thank you for your time and any help you can offer. Have a wonderful and blessed day.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
The PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.
Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to see how you might show this is the case.
If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
