The DWP are currently quoting 2019 to complete the DLA to PIP process, although even this seems optimistic given their progress to date, Claimants are being chosen at random, so your invitation could arrive tomorrow or in a couple of years time.
You do have the option of self-selecting by reporting a change in your conditions, but you should think very carefully before doing this as the criteria for PIP is very different from the DLA you currently have.
Have a look at our PIP Claim guide, it explains the process and the criteria that you will need to meet.
