would like some help please,i am at present on esa have been for 11 years and in the support group. i also receive pip myself and fiance are talking of getting married but i am worried about where i stand benefit wise. my fiance is in full time employment . i am joint tenant with my father who is disabled i do not live with my fiance any help would be greatly accepted ..
It will depend on whether you intend to live together as a couple and what ESA you are receiving.
If you are only receiving Contribution Based ESA then your getting married and living together will have no effect on your ESA although you will still need to contact the DWP.
If you are receiving Income Related ESA either in part or in whole and you live together then your ESA(IR) will stop as your fiance is working more 24 or more hours a week.
The situation is more complicated if you marry and you do not live together, in theory, you can retain any ESA(IR) as you are not living as a couple but I think you will struggle to get the DWP to accept this.
