In support group - received form ESA50 to fill in

In support group - received form ESA50 to fill in was created by Tracy Watson
A friend has received the ESA50 form to fill in again even tho she was put in the support group about 18 months ago. Is this right, I thought support group was for a set time without having to reclaim? Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid SG awards can be reassessed at any time once three months have elapsed from the previous Decision, 18 months is not an unusual period.

What happened to the 29 September 2017 ruling?
This stated:
'ESA claimants in the Support Group and Universal Credit claimants with limited capability for work and work-related activity (LCWRA), attending a Work Capability Assessment will no longer need to be reassessed if they:
• have a severe, lifelong disability, illness or health condition
• are unlikely to ever be able to move into work'

It's not a ruling but a change to DWP operational procedures and was put in place last year but one of the pre-requisites is that a further assessment is done to see whether the claimant meets the criteria to be exempted from further assessment.

So some people will be exempt from ESA & PIP re-assessment?

Some ESA claimants will be exempted providing there is no relevant Change of Circumstances.
No PIP claimants will be, but those with an On-Going award will have a Light Touch review, at this time we do not know what this means in practical terms.
