Thank you. I’ve received pip today and it says ongoing? How long does this mean?

An On-Going award means no reassessment for at least ten years and a "Light Touch" assessment when they do look at it although I can't tell you what this means.

Hi

My wife applied for Carer allowance Thursday afternoon, received a text today saying I told them about Carer and my esa payment saying it’s now changed to £148pw from 13.04.2019. So presumably means Carers has been accepted? Seems rather quick. How did esa know already about this? As I was under the impression I didn’t need to tell them till it’s been accepted? So I now don’t need to ring them about this? Also does this mean my wife will start getting Carer after 13th April? Thank you

It does sound like the CA claim has been accepted, your wife should receive CA from the date that she included in her claim, the text will be in regard to your future ESA payments, any back payment that is due will be dealt with separately.

Hi

My wife received a letter today to say she’s entitled to Carer allowance.

Then the letter says this and just wondered if you could explain to me what this means thank you.

Your full award notification will detailed information about your award for Carer allowance will follow. This will be sent to you around 25/03/2019.

We will start to pay you Carer allowance from 25/03/2019. If we owe you money before this date we will tell you in your full award notification.

If you or your partner have been getting income related employment and support allowance we may owe you some money.

Until we get advice from your local benefits office/pension centre we cannot pay you any Carer allowance we owe you from 5/11/2018 to 24/3/2019. This is because you or your partner have already received employment and support allowance (IR) for some of all of this period.

Just wondered what your thoughts are on this as Im confused by it. Thank you.

So a previously advised the CA is treated as income in regard to your ESA(IR), so if you have been previously been paid the ESA, as you have, then your wife will not be paid the CA but you will be back paid the Carers Premium.
