Hello Gordon. Can you advise how much I'll actually benefit if I get Carers Allowance for looking after somebody who gets enhanced rate? I'm on benefits myself. I get free prescriptions and council tax benefit. I understand I won't get the full £66 due to me receiving income support. Would you possibly know how much I'll get. I don't want to spend hours on the phone to DWP! Thank you
Providing it is Enhanced Daily Living, you are able to provide the 35 hours of care a week and you do not earn more than £120/week.
The CA (£64.60/week) will actually be paid but you will have a corresponding amount deducted from your Income Support but you will also have a Carers Premium added to your IS, meaning that you will be £36/week better off.
