There are considerable delays in the ESA assessment process, some members report waiting nine months or more you can contact Maximus for an update.

Hi Gorden thanks for your reply by coincidence ive today received a date for my ESA assessment in July and that is besides sending in absolutely loads of medical evidence and procedures to expain my condition.
ive been on incapacity since 1998 and migrated without a medical in 2012 to ESA without an assessment until now. my question Gorden please is is this the norm now regarding ESA and would it have helped to just have a paper based assessment if id mentioned i receive higher rate care and lower rate mobility of PIP award till 2021.
its just that i forgot to send my award off in my claim pack for ESA. I Automatically thought they knew about it. or would it not have made any difference.
any help or advice would be appreciated and most welcome
thank you

Maximus won't have been informed about your PIP award so if you want them to consider the information you will need to provide them with a copy and explain why it is relevant to your ESA claim.
It's possible that the information will remove the need for a face to face assessment but it would be unusual for this to happen without the support of your GP.

Thanks for your reply Gordon its much appreciated, and i will contact Maximus to see if it make a difference and will keep you informed off the outcome.
so in summarising am i right in guessing that no matter how much medical evidence you provide you still need to have an assessment regardless, or is it just pot luck.
My last medical regarding this benefit was in 1998 and as such just the forms have been good enough till now, or is this now Maximus policy since taking over.
any advice would be appreciated
Kind regards Redmack

Probably no more than 5% of assessments are done as a Paper Based Review, it is possible for one to just be done of the information provided by the claimant but it needs to be compelling and clearly show that they meet the criteria to score sufficient points for an award.
