Form ESA3 (IBRD) back dated income based payments was created by Peawack
Just been sent a letter and claim form for claiming income related ESA from 2012 to 2014.
The form is complex and intrusive and I wonder if it is worth bothering with.
I was paid contribution based ESA in that time and now I get PIP.
They are asking about bank details from seven years ago, amongst other very detailed information, and I don't know where to start !
They must already know this stuff. Is it worth the hassle.

It will depend on your circumstances but some members have received significant payments.

Many thanks, Gordon.
This is about when I was in ESA Support Group. As I was in receipt of an occupational pension (medically retired) of circa £250 per week I assumed income based contributions were not relevant in my case.
This is why I am not bothered pursuing this, as it is probably a waste of time.
Am I wrong to think this ?
Can I just ignore the letter/form ?

It would seem unlikely that you would receive any back payment, try putting your information, as it was, into one of the online benefit calculators to get a clearer idea,
www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators
There should be a short form with some tick boxes to indicate why you do not believe that you qualify, failing that write a short letter to the DWP.
