mental health and assessment. was created by wilton
19 years history of severe mental depression including being sectioned, suicidal thoughts, outbursts of violence,in-patient at addiction clinic,out-patient at mental health clinic and continued regular observations with GP.All evidence supplied supporting claim for PIP. from GP and M/H team. Now nurses assessment on mental health report. Interaction normal, not restless or withdrawn.Coped well at interview.Normal manner, not anxious, agitated or tense.Adequate rapport and eye contact.Well kempt and looked well.Speech normal in amount content, rate tone and volume. Not hostile or withdrawn. No signs of psychological impairment.Fully alert and then this report just goes on and on with her opinions against any form of mental health conditions. Now obviously going to MR but do you think i should mention i believe this assessment to be totally unsafe as I believe this to be an extremely dangerous assessment to have gone the way it has so far with someone with mental health history.

Hi Ginger

f you have had the assessment report, but not the decision you could write to the decision-maker, though the window to do so is very short.

If you have had the decision it is up to you what you choose to put in your mandatory reconsideration, however, if you want to try and overturn the decision the most important point is to counteract where you believe you should have been awarded more points. You can say that you believe it is a 'dangerous assessment,' but that in itself will probably not help you.

What you need to do is go through every question you hope to score points and counteract the assessor's assumption with what you have already told them, and pointing to the evidence of the professionals and what score you believe you believe you should have been awarded.

It is undoubtedly hurtful to you and many others when assumptions about your appearance negate what you are feeling and experiencing, and although you will want to mention it, focus on the areas where you can score.

Have a look at the guide on how to put in an MR.
