After assessors report, write now or wait for MR was created by riget
Hi, So I've got my assessors report and it looks like I'm getting 12pts for mobility(what I think is correct) but only 6 or 7pts for living, I could push for 12pts or more but I think 8pts is realistic.
I've seen that you have a small time to write to the dwp to state why you think you should get more points before they make a decision, is it worth it or should I wait and see what the DM gives then do the MR if I don't get the points needed.
The activity I think I should get 2pts for is dressing, I was given a grabber by the OT in hospital to assist me dressing, I use it to get trousers on over my prostheses and have done for 10yrs, the assessor mentions it but says because I can put diesel in my car and buckle the seatbelt and touch my toes while sitting down I can dress ok, I understand this is used for people with 2 legs getting dressed but I think she doesn't know the difficulty with a prostheses.
Thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Riget
Only you can decide whether or not you want to write to the Decision Maker, but if decide to do so, you will have to be quick as there is only a small window to get your letter in and be seen. If you believe your case is sound then you have nothing to lose by doing so.

Riget,
Are you allowed to put in a MR before getting the actual decision? Also, whats to say the decision make wont deviate from the HCP report?

Hi Maxit
You can't put in an MR before the decision as you would have no idea what you were fighting against. That is why there is a small window to write to the Decision Maker before the final decision is made.

Ah I understand now, I didn't realise that was an option but really handy to know. Thanks

I'll wait for the decision, you never know the DM might give me what I want.
What I'd like to know is if on the MR I only include one activity and I don't get it, can I include more on the appeal? As I'm happy to get 8pts now but if I have to appeal I'll want to go for 12pts.
Thanks.
