Does anyone know if PIP and ESA can share files? I have been sending evidence to PIP for over 6yrs now and am now filling in an ESA work capability assessment form.
It would be good if ESA admin/Assesors could use that evidence instead of me having to send the whole lot in again.
Anyone had experience of this please?

Hi katykora

The assessor will only have access to your current ESA records - they will not have access to your PIP ones. They are dealt with my completely different contractors and there is no overlap.

Thanks for that. Groan, now sending evidence to PIP, PIP appeal tribunal and ESA. You would think they would have a centralised joined up system that communicated across DWP systems as the workload for sick and disabled people is a huge burden, :-( The stress and expense involved in submitting paperwork to three different places is enough to put anyone off and I presume that is what the DWP is hoping for.

Thanks for all the brilliant guides on here. Would not be able to begin to face this trial by ordeal without the superb help on offer from B&W

Cheers Katykora

Hi katykora

There is talk that DWP will join ESA and PIP assessments and appeals together but nothing has been confirmed. We are pleased that you have found our guides very useful, as they say knowledge is power. The guides are produced to enpower members and not to give up.

I’m in a similar boat and when looking at the B&W guide for ESA, there were notes saying there is overlap and be aware which to me sounded like they do share the information between each other. One of the reasons I am taking my time to send the ESA questionnaire of slowly.

Assessors do not have access to any of the information for another benefit, Decision Makers may use it but they are under no requirement to do so and the vast majority do not.
