DLA to PIP long wait for assessment decision was created by Telestar
Thinking of giving up still waiting many weeks after my F2F medical for PIP. Have been told that if you get a quick decision it means you will get the same as your old DLA rate. But the longer they take to let you know it means a lot lower amount of PIP. After all this time I am guessing my PIP will be nil.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Norfolkcrystal
You should hear about 4 - 6 weeks after your assessment. If you have been waiting longer than that I would ring the DWP and ask them about the progress on your claim. Don't assume that it is a negative answer. The delay may be nothing to do with your specific claim.

Hi Norfolkcrystal
That is a very long wait, but I am glad that you rang to find out.

Looks like they are messing me about contacted citizens advice. Been told may be better stopping claim wait a couple of weeks then apply again . So am now drafting letter to stop claim as this current claim is going nowhere and I am a lot of money out of pocket with each week that goes by

Hi Norfolkcrystal
It is entirely up to you what you decide to do, but you should still be being paid your DLA until the PIP decision comes through. If you stop the claim your DLA will stop within a month and you will have no money while you put in for a new claim. You will obviously have to go through the whole process again. Would you not be better to ring to the DWP again and ask to speak to a more senior person and ask why your claim is taking such a long time to process. If it is nothing personal to you, then there is no point in starting a new claim because the delays are likely to be the same and do you really want to put yourself through another face to face assessment?
