Hi everyone
I am on the tortuous DLA to PIP route and I’ve just received a letter to say that they are doing a home visit on the 8th October. I never asked for a home visit so I’m a bit unsure as to why I’m getting one. Any advice will be most gratefully received.
Thank you x

Hi Maggiet
Home visits are rarely given without being requested and it is usually because from looking at a form they believe it would be easier for the claimant to have a home visit than have to go to an assessment centre. There is nothing sinister about this, but if you don't want a home visit you can cancel it and ask for one at a centre. Be aware if you do this, you will have to accept the next date they offer you regardless of where it is.

Thank you very much. I live in a rural area in Scotland so that could be why though I have no idea where my nearest assessment centre is, it could be quite a way away. Thanks again.

I had a home visit too without asking for one and i'm so glad that it was done at home. The lady who came to see me was lovely, very considerate and told me at the end i had nothing to worry about and that i'd get PIP no problem x
