Unsolicited DWP Visit. was created by routemaster
Because i can't deal with my ESA reassessment and DLA to PIP migration at the same time i decided to apply for PIP at a later date.I was therefore surprised to receive a letter from the DWP telling me they were going to visit me to 'help' me apply for PIP.And the letter arrived on the same day of the visit and after the time they'd allocated to visit me.

I then received a second letter from the DWP telling me that as i was out-which i wasn't ,i just never open my door unless i know who it is-they've arranged another visit for next week.

Surely it's up to me as to whether and when i apply for PIP. So can i refuse the visit without any further repercussions from the DWP ?

This is part of the DWP's friendlier approach to claimants, of course you can refuse their offer of assistance.

Please understand, if you do not claim PIP then your DLA will stop and you won't receive any disability benefits until you re-apply and an award is made.
