I have recieved a benefits letter from my local council saying they overpaid me from January and I owe them over £1000 for rent and Ctax. My rent has gone from paying nothing to £38 a week and Council tax from £19 a month to £280 a month. The only thing that changed is I was moved to esa support group. I have had no increase in my money but have been moved from Income based to contribution based. I cannot afford to pay this as well as my other bills. I already suffer from depression and anxiety and this is not helping me at all. Advice please

If your Income Related ESA has stopped then this implies that you either have savings or other income or both that has removed your eligibility?
Losing your ESA(IR) means that you will become liable to deductions from Housing Benefit that you would not have previously, hence the overpayment.
You really need to get face to face advice, do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county.

Your being placed in the SG would increase your entitlement to ESA(IR) not reduce or remove it.
What did the DWP say when they stopped the ESA(IR)?

They didn't say anything other than after my f2f medical I was being placed in the support group. That was in January of this year. Everything stayed the same hb was paid and I had to pay £19 ctax. Then a bombshell letter arrived from local council saying they had overpaid me and I had to pay the figures in my first post.
