Virus delay for medical assessment? Timeframe was created by Moo
I made an application for PIP in November 2019. The form was returned on time and before the requested 8th January 2020 , due to Christmas break. I sent, as your advice recorded and to be signed for - sending all my paperwork and letters. Had a text to say received with thanks.
I'm still waiting to hear about my assessment. 16/04/20
Obviously, with current social restrictions and staffing issues I'm expecting a delay - but is this normal to have waited this long before restrictions?
Especially considering lockdown only started 24 March 20 and this benefit is, after all , to help us with daily living needs.
Should we really have to wait this long for much needed support? I find it hard to believe, that this is considered a reasonable timeframe by DWP.
Yes, I've chased it and sent an email only to be told don't chase again, staffing shortages and we will be in touch.
It's a good job I can still communicate or frankly I would be in a pickle.
My feeling is that this process, I'm new to it, isn't fit for purpose. I've contacted my local MP without response feel frustrated.
Thoughts please.
Best wishes Keep safe. Appreciate

Hi Moo
I'm sorry this is happening to you, but I'm afraid I can offer little comfort. In terms of the length of time you had been waiting even before the current suspension, it was a long time, but not unheard of. Although the DWP have never declared it publicly, it has been quite clear from what we have heard from our members that a number of them have had very long waits after they have put in their forms. As everyone knows its far from being a perfect system and that means some people experience untold stress and in my view unacceptable delays. Unfortunately it sounds like you have done everything you can, so all you can do now is wait. If at any time you can face it, or you have someone who can do it - I would ring them to find out where your claim is at.
