Hi Everyone

My carer has been working only a few hours a week, not earning any where near the threshold amount, however last week her employer paid all of the staff a Christmas bonus which took her £1 over the amount she is allowed to earn whilst claiming carer's allowance, she is in a state of panic and does not know what to do, will the carers find out, should she tell them, is a Christmas bonus classed as earnings?

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately we cannot answer your question as it depeds on a number of factors, we would advise your carer to seek advice from her local Welfare Rights Organisation who will be able to take all their circumstances into consideration; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk .
