Hi kuju2,
Me personally - I always opt for emails. I find at times, text messages don't always come through, or there can be a delay for several minutes, which causes issues.

I'd go for an email every time. Especially if one is ever expected to reply to any of these communications. Plus, there is less of an expectation of an immediate response if messages are sent via email.
