Supported Housing - Migrated UC with TP & Housing Benefit was created by jasonbudd1984
I've been migreated to UC and awarded a Transitional Protection amount, including the Housing Element awarded at my present contract level.
My situation is likely progressing to me having to go into Supported Housing due to mental health crisis and need for intenseive treatment.
The Housing Element with Supported Housing say it's not covered within UC, so it would be a Housing Benefit application for that services rent (despite the rest of the UC award remaining). Does the Housing Element I have transfer to HB in this case? Is this going to erode the TP?
I'd be moved on from here in about a year to standard housing. So that will mean coming out of HB into the Housing Element as standard within UC in that arrangement. Will that then erode the TP even if remains in the shift of going into Supported Housing?
I'm so lost by it all, and the lack of clarity is making me even more ill as I can't plan for anything.
Is that then going to void all the TP, as it's the Housing Element again rather than the H

Hi Mr Croesus
I'm really sorry, but your question is outside the remit of this forum, and we can't advise you about housing benefit. I would ring the UC helpline 0800 328 5644

Hello,
I can't really offer any advice, other than a housing benefit application would be totally separate and made directly to your local council. So, it's best to double-check your eligibility for full support service charges with them before making any application.
I'm having a tricky time around UC and supported accommodation (and whether my property is eligible and exept) but those issues could be ironed-out in the system within the next year (with more case law too).
Do you have a welfare rights charity nearby to contact? Any supported accommodation support services you receive should be helping you resolve this before you move out.

It does appear that it would be Housing Benefit for supported accom. That means in effect a corresponding near complete erosion of TP.
Interesting to know there is any irony-out to even come from what I have read.
There is a welfare charity, it oddly seem a bit of a niche question given the potential conserquences.
In a bind that the support and pathway to potential a housing association property is difficult to balance against the TP erosion.

Hi (SIC)
There is now case law which acts as a precedent in this area to prevent erosion taking place with relocation in Supported Housing.
