Managed migration esa to uc - credit score questions

hi, I currently get esa (think some is contributory, not sure, but got a p60u) IR ESA and PIP, support group - so I get some disability premiums.

I am really terrified about being called into the job centre. I would need to be accompanied if that happened (and when the person is free to come with me), it would be really difficult for me (mental and physical health issues). A phone call would be bad enough although I understand that’s not avoidable.

So I am hoping my id verification will be enough online. (And then phone call)

I got a passport for id purposes. The only other criteria I can use would be related to my credit score. I wanted to know what kind of questions I might need to answer - i have a bank account with overdraft facility but not used for at least 20 yrs , a regularly used credit card for online shopping. Never had a phone contract, just payg. Should I get my credit file from someone like Experian so I know things that are on it? Thanks

Hi mangof

I hope this shared experience from another Forum member will help--
- "

Thought i would give another update regarding my UC Migration Journey.

My previous update "Migration Success" which was sround 6 weeks ago and David has locked and pinned above.

My anxious self was telling me this migration has went too well and mostly positive.

During the UC 5 week wait it came to my attention that i had actually been receiving CB ESA whilst in support group.

Having checked a couple of new and old P60 they clearly were a P60U and this is how i knew i was on CB ESA.

When i received info on UC journal regarding first payment to my horror and astonishment i would be receiving ZERO.
Housing costs awarded was nearly half of my monthly rent.
Also no LCWRA and no transitional protection.

My anxiety etc went through the roof but once i calmed down a bit, i refocused and knew it was wrong and a mistake.

I again sought help / advice from CAB Help to Claim Service.

The CAB advisor went through everything and agreed it was wrong.
He phoned UC helpline there and then and instigated a 3 way call.

UC helpline indicated they would put a note on my journal regarding all the issues and would be sent to a Claim Manager and they would contact me within 3 working days.

When i came off phone i checked journal and UC helpline had sent message to claim manager.

Around 2 hours later i received a text message to check journal and to my amazement and delight the issues around LCWRA and TP payments were resolved.
Also once all the issues had been recalculated them the Housing Costs issue was also resolved.

A huge relief and massive thank you to Ben at CAB Help to Claim Service who walked and talked me throughout my issues.

As I'm receiving CB ESA and in Support Group (Now New Style ESA) i received a journal message advising me someone from Jobcentre would be phoning me to agree claimant commitments.
Like other forum members anxiety was through the roof.

The phonecall arrived and lasted less than 5 minutes with advisor / work coach stating as I'm in support group there were no commitments other than to inform them of any change of circumstances.

I also became aware that i would be paid New Style ESA every 2 weeks which would be deducted from UC.

I received first UC payment as was stated on journal and have continued to receive fortnightly New Style "

I did mine and hubs the other day we did passport and credit questions. The credit questions were like have you had credit with any off these there was a list. have you had a catalogue in the last 1-3 years 5-10 etc or never. phone contract time options given or never. when was the last time you took out a loan again time options or never choice. It was a bit nerve racking as i knew the answers but the timing options of when they were i couldnt remember exactly a credit reference agency like experian could help with that. good luck

Thank you -

Although that’s pretty scary that it can go so wrong actually! I really do hope I can get a smoother transition than that. I’m glad the CAB line is there to help but obviously having to do all that is very stressful and exhausting, and hard - and you are on the benefits because you have severe health problems in the first place, making it all more difficult & exacerbating them.

I am in a similar position to the this forum member - housing benefit, contributory esa, disability premiums that should get transitional protection.

The final phone call part sounds not so bad.

Do you know anything about what the credit score questions for identification are like?
