Pension credit was created by JeanCannon
Hi please can someone advise me? My husband's pension credit was not paid into our account this week. We had no idea why as we had not been sent a letter. We found out it's because I did not put a claim in for my pension as I don't think I will get anything. I became a pensioner on 31st May. My husband phoned DWP and was told I must put a claim in anyway which I have now done. I am worried in the mean time about our housing benefit etc. being affected until it is sorted out. What can we do please?

Hi JeanCannon

Your HB could be suspended due to non payment of pension credit. PC is a qualifying benefit therefore if it stops then it can have a knock on effect. As you have sorted out your SP, GPC should be reinstated and you will be sent a letter. If your HB stops, when you get your GPC letter re-instating your GPC take it to your local authority and explain what happened.

Thank you Gary for your reply. Should we inform anyone or just wait ? I'm surprised that we didn't receive a letter to say that our GPC was being stopped.
Thanks again for your help

Hi JeanCannon

I personally would contact your local authority to let them know what is happening, when you applied for your state pension did you ask for it to be back dated? you can ask for your pension credit to be backdated so that it covers any missed periods, you may also be entitled to extra PC.
