I have submitted a PIP application approximately four weeks ago and I received a text about two weeks ago saying that it has been passed to the company that carries out the assessments my concern is is that I'm going away on the 02 August because my father who lives in Miami is not well.
I'm concerned that the appointment for the assessment or that they may just call me out of the blue while I am away will this hamper claim or go against me that I am abroad.
It would be unusual for you to hear about an appointment that quickly, but it is possible. I would contact the DWP and say that you will be abroad for two weeks or you can contact the assessment service directly. It won't go against you to go abroad to see your sick father.
