Hi, I was thinking of moving in with a friend and renting a room off them to save money. But I am now worried that it's a bad idea, as I see a "significant change of circumstances" will cause me to lose my Transitional Protection payment?
Is this true if I go from a 1 bed need to a shared need, or if I move to a different council area? If so, it may not be worth doing, as any money I'd save would be eaten into by losing just over £200 a month.
Also, if I rent a room alone I'll only get the shared rate of LHA? Even though I'm over 35? What if the room has an en suite bathroom, does that make a difference?
It all feels unfair, because if I get the shared rate and lose my TP I'd actually be worse off than I am at the moment, even though my rent and bills would be a lot less.
