Yes, it is possible for someone to receive carers allowance and be on PIP. However, be aware that the DWP will question iany claimant of PIP if they have been awarded the care component, whether they are able to fulfil the requirements of 35 hrs a week care to their spouse. I know of someone who has a care award because of their own physical disabilities, but has carers allowance for the emotional support she has to give to her severely mentally ill husband.
