Live in carer starting work was created by Karen
Hello, I am in receipt of Pip, Esa and Uc. I have a live in carer who has his own room. He has recently been offered a job to work 4 hours twice a week for £350 each time as he is an entertainer.
I live in a three bedroom house and pay bedroom tax for one room.
He will still be looking after me but will be giving up his own benefits of carers allowance and UC.
Will this affect my benefits?
Kind regards
Karen

Hi Karen

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.

As long as you still receive care from your lie in carer then your benefits should not be affected, if any benefits were to be affected it would be your housing element, your reduction would go from 14% to 25%, you can apply for discretionary housing payment (DHP) to help with the shortfall if it is causing you hardship.
