CB ESA to UC - with savings

Hi,

I've just read your news item re migration of CB ESA to UC from 1st Dec 2025.

I was IHR'd from NHS in 2015 and have been receiving CB ESA ever since. Last review 2023.

As I am over the savings limit, do I decline to migrate, knowing I am ineligible?

Also in receipt of standard DL PIP, review form just posted - currently awarded until June 2026.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have not received a managed migration letter yet.

Having read the article on your B&W news page,I was simply trying to gain information in advance.

And if it is a case of moving from CB ESA to NS ESA (under the UC 'umbrella), does that mean having to register, prove identity, have a journal, agree 'commitment' etc etc ?

Is the news article you've read not about change of contributions ESA to new-style ESA? That happens on 1 December 2025. if so, then the change will happen automatically with no need to complete a migration form. It's a change of name of the benefit and savings have no effect on NS-ESA.

CB ESA is being phased out in Dec 2025. New Style ESA is contribution based. You get it even if you have savings.
If DWP play true to form there will be some very confusing process of 'inviting' everyone on CB ESA and NOT entitled to UC to apply for New Style ESA ........
