I had a Work Capability Assessment for ESA by CAPITA 10 Days ago.
The assessor was extremely personable, but also very thorough during the 90 minute assessment.
At the beginning of the assessment, she told me that DWP make the decision.
However, at the end of the assessment, she told me she was placing me in the higher benefit Support Group, and named the specific health issues on which she was basing that.
I was very relieved.
However, 2 days later, I received an SMS text message from the DWP saying they had received the written report of my ESA assessment. "We will write to you once we've made a decision on your ESA."
Is this DWP message a formality, such that I can rely on the Assessor's indication that she placed my in the Support Group?
Or is it possible that I will not be put in that group?
I had absolutely no indication at all that the Assessor was anything but straight and honest.
But maybe the DWP do not always implment the Assessors' recommendations.
Any clarity would be appreciated.

Hi Toblerone

That is a standard message you received. The assessor should not have worded it in that way. The assessor makes a recommendation, but it is the DWP who makes the decision. More often than not, they follow the recommendations - but there can be differences.

I would not trust anything as assessor says, they work for DWP and paid bonuses to refuse your claim, their assessments are full of unfounded assumptions and they ignore what u tell them most of the time, best thing u can do is back everything up medically thru ur GP, community health, social worker, welfare rights officer or Counsellor, the more information the better, those assessors will try to pick holes in everything, never give them cause
