Hi, can anyone help clarify something about Light‑Touch (AR2) reviews?

My son had an ongoing PIP award, and after an AR2 Light‑Touch review (no changes reported) his award was stopped completely.

I have submitted a MR and also put a complaint into the Health Assessment Provider due to the way the assessment was carried out, inaccuracies within the report and also what I believe to be cut and paste from another report.

The assessment provider has told me they carried out a full assessment, and that this is “what they do for AR2 reviews, saying the structure is the same as a new claim. They also admitted their “front office” isn’t familiar with the AR2 form, which may explain why the assessor said I hadn’t listed a diagnosis (there’s nowhere to list it on AR2).

Is this correct? My understanding is that Light‑Touch reviews shouldn’t be full reassessments unless there’s evidence of change. If I was aware that is the case I would have prepped with the full assessment form.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi Sunny

You didn't have a choice over the form you were sent. The DWP decided. Maximus do have the right to do a full assessment if they choose and you are the second member that this has happened to with the AR2 - and the other member also lost their award. My worry is that they said they weren't familiar with the form. They should be! That's not your job - that is a failing of the DWP to train the assessment services. Personally, I don't know why the DWP even sent your form onto Maximus in the first place. The AR2 is for people with long-term conditions that are unlikely to change, and you shouldn't have to fill in the form as if it were the first time. The DWP could have made the decision without passing it on.

In my view the fault starts with the DWP (thought they won't see it that way) but then it has been compounded by Maximus. I hope that you get this sorted.
