problems with motability after a successful Mandatory Reconsideration

My granddaughter had her PIP reassessment and was awarded zero points. I requested a Mandatory Reconsideration and was successful meaning payments resumed and she could keep her car. Unfortunately she was involved in a serious car accident and her car was destroyed. When we tried to organise a courtesy car we found that a Stop Order had been placed on her account and she could only have a courtesy car for 2 weeks. I have managed to defer the courtesy car for 2 weeks. We are in limbo waiting for the DWP to inform Motability that the stop order should be lifted. The Mandatory Reconsideration happened in March and I received a letter on March 22. Apparently it can take from 4 to 6 weeks for this process to be completed by the DWP. Hopefully my granddaughter will be well enough to drive next week but she will only have the courtesy car for 2 weeks unless the process is finalised. She won't be able to get to work without her car. This worries me as employment for disabled people is not easy to achieve. The insurance company that Motability uses advised me against calling the DWP. I am desperate to resolve this as quickly as possible.

Hi Eileen

I'm sorry that your granddaughter was hurt and I hope that she soon recovers and at some point is able to return to work.

I'm sorry, but we can't offer advice on motability issues, as it is outside the forum's remit. However, it's not the insurance comany's role to tell you that you can't speak to the DWP. Your granddaughter (or you, with her permission) can speak to them about her current claim and its status.
