it doesn't surprise me at all. Last year my son had a period of being unwell and had to claim ESA. He sent a letter in asking them to speak with me and giving permission for me to talk with them over his claim for himself his partner and their son. That was all fine until it came to the medical and I had to ring ATOS to sort it. The guy on the phone wanted to know why I was the appointee and that he should be doing it himself. When I explained my son was ill he asked what was wrong with his partner and I explained they were young and she had just had their first baby and he then started arguing with me that I shouldn't be phoning and said look I have permission are you going to make this appointment or not,he then gave me an appointment with no time to say whether it was convenient or not and hung up. I rang back and got another guy with the same attitude who hung up. I was in tears. I am not in good health myself and I was helping them because I know the nightmare of the system. I finally got through to a woman who was really nice who apologized. It isn't the point though. I finally got it sorted but this attitude should not be happening

Unfortunately, some people really believe we are scum. One day they will be treated the same way and will, I pray, live in guilt for how they have treated others.

My heart goes out to anyone who has been treated like this. Do not take it personally, they are the scum!

Surely it shouldn't be allowed to treat us this way?
