The DWP have announced that the one-off, £150 cost of living payment will be paid to a range of disability benefit claimants from 20 September, with the “vast majority” getting paid by the beginning of October.

The £150 is being paid on top of other cost of living payments totalling £650, £400 for all households to help with energy bills, and an extra £150 for properties in Council Tax bands A-D in England.

Over eight million eligible households in receipt of one of a range of means-tested benefit received the first of two automatic cost of living payments of £326 from 14 July. The second means-tested payment of £324 will be issued later this year.

Claimants likely to be eligible for the £150 payment are those in receipt of:

  • Disability Living Allowance,
  • Personal Independence Payment,
  • Attendance Allowance,
  • Adult Disability Payment (Scotland),
  • Child Disability Payment (Scotland),
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment,
  • Constant Attendance Allowance,
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement.

Those who had confirmed payment of their disability benefit for 25 May are expected to be paid shortly after the payment window opens.

For those awaiting confirmation of their disability benefits on 25 May, or who are waiting to be assessed for eligibility to receive disability benefits, the process may take longer but payments will still be automatic.

Full details of eligibility for the £150 cost of living payment are on the .gov.uk website.

@Coln As I understand it the only people who will qualify for the new version of the Warm Home Discount scheme, or whatever name they are calling it now, will be pensioners in receipt of pension credit. All the other categories that qualified will now be excluded. So if you got it because you had an income based benefit, such as Income Based ESA, or UC, PLUS Pip, you will no longer qualify.

@Bev well it will be interesting to see  if I get  it !!! Despite receiving cb esa and  pip  care component,  i no longer get the mobility component as  i spend time  in the eu and  the time spent for better  health  and warmth prohibits me from obtaining the mobility element. Also  i  do not receive the £10 christmas  present,  haa  haa, so I am not  holding  my  breath to  get this  little bit of  money that'll pay for a weeks  heating  in the depth  of winter. As I am not receiving any means tested benefits the dwp said that  is the reason I do  not  get the christmas  present, so  no  doubt the same will apply re this little bonus  of £150,  or they will find another excuse not to give it to  me !!!!
