The European Court of justice ruled this month that the care component of disability living allowance, as well as attendance allowance and carers allowance, can continue to be paid to claimants if they move to other parts of the European Union.

The ruling does not apply to the mobility component of DLA, which the court held was not exportable. The DWP is currently studying the decision and has not yet made any comment on how the issue will be dealt with in future. However, it seems that the ruling is most likely to be of benefit to claimants with an indefinite award of the care component of DLA or AA who wish to move to another EU country.
