Atos Pip assesment yesterday was created by Trales9
Hi all, sent my pip forms in 10 days ago duly filled in with all the information gleaned from this forum etc and got my appointment within a few days.
Suffering with o/a in hip knees and neck/shoulder that makes walking/standing painful.
Also suffering with stress/anxiety and mild depression.
I have very bad ibs episodes also.
I have angina attacks in fact I had one during my esa medical that was stopped after 5 mins and I was placed in the support group without even discussing my illnesses.
I sent off the esa medical report with my claim form as this states I was observed to walk 15 metres to the medical centre and was out of breath upon arrival it also states due to my angina a self propelled wheelchair would be of no use to me due to the workload of propelling one.
Right so to my atos appointment yesterday and all the assessor seemed interested in was proof of my prescribed drugs as she looked at every box and typed them into her report.
She never asked one question about any of the descriptors just telling me she would add such a thing as you get more points.
She only asked about my arthritis basically dismissing my angina but she did add to my file a recent specialists letter that as well as angina they have found a small heart defect.
I got the impression that a decision has already been made and she was just checking out that my illnesses where genuine
She did ask me to attempt to touch my toes(no chance)and she asked me to squat but was fine when I couldn't attempt it due to my knees and she did a small test with her hands I'm my knees and said there was a noticeable week ness in my left leg and noticeable muscle wastage as well.
I was in there about 20 minutes.
As I said she never asked one of the descriptor question for either part of my claim and she said my claim form was well filled in and informative,is this commonplace ?
Any comments and thought please.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

If you have a look at the PIP Claim guide, you'll see that very few of the questions asked at an assessment are specifically in regard to the claimants conditions or the actual Descriptors.

Has anyone else had a similar experience of a 20 min assesment and if so what was their outcome?

B) made a telephone call today to DWP and my award letter was sent out yesterday.
Standard rate daily living and standard rate mobility.
The process was ultra quick probably 6 weeks from start to finish.
I will have to see what points i was awarded before considering my next step.
Once again thanks all at B&W .

Hi ,I've been awarded the standard rate daily living with 8points and 10 points for the standard rate mobility ,this I am happy with all though my feelings are I should have been awareded the extra 2 points as I got 10 for moving around and none for planning and following.
I feel due to my stress /anxiety /depression I should have been awarded the extra points as full mobility would benifit me due to me not driving now and relying on family due to my angina/and arthritic hip knee and ankle.
Any help /advice regarding the wording of my mandatory appeal would be more than welcome.
On another point even though I am gratefull for any gov help I am a little disturbed by the Atos assesment as on the decision makers reasoning letter it says,,,,on your questionaire you say you have difficulties planning and following a journey but at your assesment you said you have no difficulties,I never said such a thing.
Also the same was said about budgeting that I have no difficulties but I clearly stated that due to the stress anxiety brought on by bills and Monterey problems my wife has taken care of all this for years to relieve pressure on me ,yet in his letter it says I said I have no problems dealing with these matters?
So I need help and guidance please.
Many thanks for your help and advice so far as it was invaluable.
