I am afraid it may be some time until you hear, PIP Decisions are taking at least 8 weeks at the moment.

Having had time to think about my assessment for PIP the other day, and I have to say it was a bit strange and not what I expected, would have submitted this earlier but waited with the server being down, hope it's better and doesn't need a f2f! It might be helpful to others.

She didn't read what I had brought with me, saying they had enough to go through! She also seemed annoyed that I had typed my answers on separate sheets, which she found difficult to follow! I very clearly put see page X of X. I had to ask for my passport back, and she told me to take my extra information back too, as I would have to sign something; it felt like it was too much trouble! I have sent these to DWP, but bottled out saying she wouldn't take them and instead said I had forgot! She seemed stressed to be honest, maybe been a bad day, and kept muttering under her breath, a bit unprofessional.

I thought PIP was about how your disabilities affect you? In my f2f she discussed for about 40-45 minutes what was wrong with me, how they happened and what diagnosis I had had and which professional I had seen, what treatments I had had for them, what ongoing treatments were planned, but not how they affected me in my daily life. It felt a bit like being at the Dr's and trying to explain your symptoms! The assessment was about an hour long.

I was asked about what aids I had, did I use them, did I have pets, what kind of house I lived in, did I have a phone, use the Internet etc. Could I use a microwave, which I replied yes, but explained why it was difficult and unsafe. She then concentrated on my tinnitus and how it affected me and could I cope with it, and what percentage was it bad, tinnitus is not why I am claiming PIP, least of my worries, so I told her it was about a 70/30 split over the week, but emphasised that was my tinnitus, but it felt like she will use that for everything, have to say I am not confident.

She did a clever memory test, as my partner pointed out, by asking me what years I saw specialists, which I couldn't remember, but she had them written down on paper!

She did ask how far I walked to get to the car, which I explained it was 20 feet from the front door to the garden gate, the footpath and that the car was parked in front of the house, so about 30 feet from the lounge to the car, she didn't ask how long it took. A few quick movements, but did say not to do anything that caused pain, and that was about it!

At the end by the door, she asked if I had PIP, and I said yes, I had brought this with me and showed her, she took a quick look, and a look at my Dr's other letter, the one sent last year, and then said 'we'll see', what ever that means!

I wouldn't read too much into what happened at the assessment, we've seen the worst assessment result in a top award and the best result in no award at all.

Got my assessment report this morning and it's very much the same as last time, but has given me longer, my question is, does the DM usually go with the reports? If so I should be on the same as last time, fingers crossed.

The letter was dated yesterday so maybe a decision was made yesterday too?

In the vast majority of cases the DM goes with the assessors recommendation.

I'm afraid sending the report is an admin activity and does not involved the DM, I think it likely that you will have to wait another 4-5 weeks to hear about a Decision.

Got my award letter at the weekend, for my reassessment, have been given the same as before, standard care and enhanced mobility, which I think is correct, till 2022 but they will contact me in 2021.

Many thanks to you all for the help you give, it's much appreciated, take care and good luck to all.
