I'm not feeling confident, I would like the extra care so that I could pay for help instead of relying on my 70 odd year old parents doing a 16 mile round trip every day. I'd also die if I only got standard rate for mobility and lost my blue badge...my car is my lifeline.
Took me ages to find this post..I've figured out how to favourite it as you suggest.
Thanks again Bro58 :)

Hi J,

Thanks ! :)

If you only gain a Standard PIP Mobility Award, (which you could MR/Appeal of course) although you would not be able to lease a car off Motability, or you would have to : Return you Lease Car to them if you already have one, you would still be entitled to a Blue Badge and 50% reduction in your annual Car Road Tax if the 8 points awarded were for the "Moving Around" Activity rather than for "Going Out".

See : Here. and just over half way down : This Page.

Under the heading : Vehicle tax reduction.

Fingers crossed for Enhanced !! :)

Hope I've done this right and not caused admin time searching! I'm useless with technology and had to follow instructions from Gordon's post.
I rang PIP as it's been nearly 3weeks since my assessment, they said that I should have a decision in the next 3-4 weeks as there is a backlog at the moment...good job I'm not destitute and still getting DLA lol. I'm going to my partner who works away so was just hoping it would've been sorted before I go.
So don't worry guys and gals if you haven't heard anything...it isn't necessarily bad news

Just opened the letter and was awarded standard of both components...reading it I'm wondering who she was assessing because I don't think it was me.
I've got to ring up if I want them to reconsider..will I be asked why I want a reconsideration? Will I have to complete the pip forms again? It says I can't appeal until I've asked them to look at the decision again.
Regards
Joby

The first stage to challenging a Decision is for you to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, this needs to be done in writing to the DWP, within one month of the Decision, to the office that dealt with your claim, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process and template letters that you can use to make the request with.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

You will need to provide some reason for the MR but it does not have to be detailed at this stage. You will not be asked to complete a new PIP2 form.

You should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing. Once you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and will then be able to argue against them.

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;

"the assessor recorded that I walked 50m, I did but they have failed to document that I had to stop every 10m for a rest due to breathlessness"

than their opinions

"based on my observations of the claimant walking I believe that they can reliably walk more than 200m.

When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.
