My husband has records going back many years, when I asked that the DLA paperwork was looked into & gave the Mob number, I was informed that nothing over 2 years would be taken into account. Having said that, the Atos appointment was then changed to a home visit with no problem & without a GP letter. I did ensure that a request was logged and gave dates and did a short synopsis of various medicals & written assessment's, so they may have looked at the documentation. This was in November.. It is just another way of life being made difficult for claimants. My husband had an indefinite award for DLA & thankfully he has been awarded enhanced living & enhanced mobility.
Good Luck x

I guess I was lucky as CAPITA seem to have no problems with making home visits.
When filling in the paperwork all I did was put that I needed access to disabled toilet facilities and had difficulties with more than a couple of stairs. I didn't ask my GP for a letter, so was quite surprised, when 2 weeks after returning the forms I was given a date and time of a home assessment. I only had 4 days notice as the letter was held up in the pre-Christmas post!
If only the decision came as quickly... 4 weeks now and no sign of anything.

Hi folks ,just a quick one,
. I have now been granted a home visit regarding my PIP claim/ transfer from DLA. This after they initially said I must attend their centre.I am very pleased.
Is this a positive sign or can I read nothing into it?

Hi D,

Well done on gaining a Home Assessment !!

It could be seen as a positive in so far as they have accepted that you suffer limitations which would affect you making the return trip to/from an Assessment Centre.

You can choose the room where you wish the assessment to take place, they should not want to look around your home.

Although, if you have aids and/or adaptations that you need that may be in another room, you may wish to point them out.

You can have someone else present for support and they can take notes.

You can read what to expect at your face to face from around Page 69 of our : PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link down the page)

Good luck and please return to let us know how you got on !! :)

Thanks again Bro ! Yes I feel it a small victory . I received the letter saying that I must attend their centre so called them next day to ask for a home visit. The very next day I got a letter informing me of my home visit ( no date yet) Very good service so far for me.
I will indeed return and tell you of the outcome.
