Assessor awarded PIP was created by amberkindness
Hello,

I received my PIP assessment report, my assessor whom I had the face to face assessment with awarded points which would have given me an award of PIP and another assessor from ATOS who I have not seen, deducted most of them a week later, leaving me with no award!

This was attached in an supplementary advice note.

Will I just argue what this assessor has said and the fact they did not see me face to face?

Thanks for any help

However wrong this seems, you will still only be awarded PIP by showing how and why you score points against the PIP descriptors.

You can quote the first assessor in support of your claim and comment that this is the person who actually saw you - but simply discrediting the second report will not, in itself get you the points you need.

Thank you for the advice.

Can I write for MR, problems I have with descriptors and the evidence from PIP2, any letters and face to face with HP be taken into account and little weight put onto HP Supplementary advice note?

Or do I need to state the above and write why the HP Supplementary advice note is wrong?

Although it is important to address the issues raised in the report, as Mrs H advises, you will only get an award by showing that you meet the requirements for one.

I would start by going through your PIP2, the report and our PIP Claim guide to make sure that you have met the requirements for the Descriptors that you expect to score against. Make sure that you meet all of the requirements, many Descriptors have multiple elements and you need to meet all of them to score. Can you reasonably use the same language as the Descriptor does? Have yo made full use of "reliably" and "for the majority of days" where applicable.

Once you have done this you can then look at the report for any issues that you have not already dealt with, but even then try to dispute the facts of the assessment rather than the opinions of the assessor as you are more likely to be successful with this strategy.

Thank you Mrs H and Gordon.

Do I have to mention descriptors I have not had points taken off from or just the ones I want to challenge?

Thank you

I would leave them to last, but still consider supplying additional information for them, another DM may not come to the same conclusions as the original and you don't want to find that you gain points but also lose them.
