That's great news Robbie! We seldom see MRs alter the original decision so your result will give hope to a lot of people. Thanks for letting us know and for your kind words about B+W :)

Getting an extension to completing PIP2 form 4 months 2 weeks ago #222572

Hope its OK to post this here as it keeps all my PIP queries in the same thread.

My PIP award is now up for review. I received the AR1 form, asked for and was granted an extension with the form having to be back in by last Friday (30 November). I sent the AR1 form off last Tuesday using Track and Trace. The form was signed for two days later (Thursday 29 November).

When I sent off my PIP2 form a couple of years ago I received a text from the DWP about a week or so later to say they had received my form. This time, as yet, I have had no text. As tomorrow will be one week since it was signed for, when would be the best time to phone up to make sure the DWP have noted / have scanned onto their system they have my AR1?

I've read a handful of threads where people have received a text up to a month after returning the form which makes me wonder why such a delay. As I don't want to leave anything to chance I would like some piece of mind that they have the form on their system. I know the DWP do allow a week's grace for the form to make it onto their system after the "return by" date before any disallowance action is (presumably automatically) taken but I wouldn't like to phone up tomorrow and find the form is not showing on the system - I would literally start to panic and wonder where it had gone. It wouldn't just be my PIP that would be affected but my ESA too.

Would you suggest I just wait for a text, assuming they send one, or should I phone them either tomorrow morning or Friday? Assuming no hold-ups at the DWP end should the AR1 form already be on the system?

If you are concerned then give the DWP office dealing with your claim a call to confirm that they have received your form.

I phoned the DWP last week and they have my form. I was then told the form was in a queue waiting for a Case Manager to look at the form to either make a decision on my review or to send it to IAS for a face to face assessment. As I was curious what this woukld mean I phoned IAS today to see if the form had been looked at and an appointment sent (the post around here is haphazard at the moment as my regular postie is on the sick and post arrives anytime from 10am to 3pm which is making me nervous wondering if anything will come today).

To my surprise I was told that my form is still with the DWP and has not been referred over at this time. What is the usual process when a review form is received? I thought it was scanned onto the DWP PIP system and then a referral was made automatically to IAS. Of course a referral may still be made, and probably will (but here's hoping...), but I'm surprised it is waiting on a Case Manager to look at it first. I moved from DLA to PIP via a Mandatory Review after initially being turned down. Could this have something to do with why my file hasn't as yet been referred? Or is it either pot luck whether an automatic referral is or isn't made or is this the way it happens for everyone?

One good thing, if I do have to go for an assessment it's now not likely to happen until after the New Year and it means I can relax for a few days as even if a referral was made today I doubt an appointment letter will be dropping through the door in the next two or three days as there will need to be pre-scrutiny, by a HCP appointment booked and letter sent out.

Although the process is for a Case/Decision Maker to review the form and evidence before it is forwarded to the Assessment Provider the reality is that they usually only perform a cursory review of the information and it is sent straight on to the AP.
