As a retired WRO and DLA Tribunal Member, please bear in mind that an appeal is a complete rehearing of your claim carried out by a Tribunal Judge, a qualified Medical Member (usually a GP) and a Disability Specialist.
Tribunals are totally independent of the DWP, with all panel members being appointed by the Dept of Justice.
Tribunals are not bound by decisions made by the DWP, but base their decision on the evidence before them, which is why it's always best if possible to attend the Tribunal in person.
Whether you have a Representative is not that important, since the Tribunal will always direct any questions it has to the appellant, not a representative.
Having a relative or other family member can often be better than having formal representation. It's a well known fact that a poor representative can often do more harm than good.
Good luck.
Jim
