Thank you, think I agree. I have made a telephone appointment with my gp for the 8th and wlll ask for fit note to run from the 11th, and then see if my son is allowed to collect it for me on the 9th. The receptionist said I am meant to go to the surgery and fill in an extension form, I have never done one of these. It probably is the norm but because I am not the norm (lol) and cannot go myself to the surgery I have to do it in a different way. If I was able to get a phone call appointment a whole week earlier say on the 4th (but is proving difficult) and got the fit note running from 11th actually in my hands say on the 4th - could I post it to the DWP on the 4th?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

You can post it as soon as you have it, just to remind you, the DWP will allow you time to send a new one after the current Note expires.

Sorry, maybe I am being silly, but I am now wondering whether I actually need fit notes! A friend has told me because I am beyond assessment stage and am allocated in the support group, that I do not need to supply them to the DWP anymore. Could that be right?

If you are in the SG then you should not need to provide further Fit Notes.

Hi,
I just have a little question. My savings have been below £6000.00 for some time but yesterday I paid in a big cheque. I understood from the bank cashier that this cheque would not reach my account for 3 to 5 working days. So I thought that would be fine because I had some big expenses to pay out within the next day or two , so by the time 3 to 5 working days would have passed even with the big cheque coming into my account I would still be below £16000.00. This is crucial because going above £16000.00 means my mortgage help money stops for 39 weeks along with ESA. Well today I looked at my bank account and was shocked to see the big cheque as showing paid in yesterday, the day I paid it in,and already in my bank balance. It is however classed as unavailable funds.(not cleared yet) Will the DWP count it as my savings even though it is still unavailable funds do you know?
