ESA was created by Tigerlily11
Hi,
I was wondering if a single man with a mortgage with no other income other than IR ESA was entitled to any help wih mortgage payments. He has no dependants and no one lives with him or looks after him. My friend is in this position at the minute and is off work long term.
Thanks for any advice.
Jessica

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

No it will be in addition to the ESA, however, they do need to be aware that the scheme is changing next year and will be treated as a loan.

Jessica wrote: Thank you very much Gordon. Am I right in thinking then if he gets help with the mortgage interest which is paid directly to the mortgage lender this sum will not be taken out of his IR ESA?
