DLA to PIP successful in March-23 wks in hospital was created by Raine63
My partner went from DLA middle rate of care and higher rate mobility to standard PIP for both in March 2017. Has been in hospital since April 2017 and health has gone 'down the pan'! Now he has stoma and is fed through a Hickman line (tube) into his heart. I informed the DWP about his hospitalisation when we realised it would take longer than 4 weeks. He is due out next week (with a bit of luck!!) - DWP told me to ring when he is discharged. He definitely needs more care now and his mobility has declined severely. Any advice would be gratefully received.

A deterioration does not always equate to an increased award but if you are reasonably sure that they will score the extra needed for the Enhanced awards then you/they should write to the DWP office dealing with their claim to inform them of this.
Remember the new limitations must have been in place for at least three months and reasonably be expected to last for a further nine months, so if they are problems associated with them being in hospital and may improve then you might want to be more circumspect in contacting the DWP.
Reporting a Change will result in a new claim for and almost certainly a face to face assessment, so be prepared for this.

Hi Gordon
You may have seen I have posted the latest in this saga. We are back off to hospital for a check-up next week. The DWP did ring my partner and told him that they were having trouble reaching his gastro-enterology consultant. I will be asking the consultant if he actually responded to DWP. And if he didn't I will ask him for a letter/report to support an appeal.
