It's up to you, but you do not have to wait for the Decision.
Your DLA will remain in payment until four weeks after the PIP Decision is made.

You can argue a need for supervision based on the risk of your having a blackout, but the assessment is based on the degree of harm you might suffer versus the likelihood of your having an attack. Can you show that you are more likely to have a blackout when cooking than at other times?

scouse wrote: Thanks for the reply Gordon I can't really see how I could prove that I would be more likely to have a blackout while cooking as the blackouts are completely random and could happen anywhere anytime potentially if I was standing over hot pans on an open flame gas cooker the risk of harm to my self would be more if I was to pass out onto the cooker while cooking I also take warfarin to thin the blood so if I was to pass out and crack my head on a worktop or sharp corner I would be at risk of heavy bleeding and even the use of an Aid a stool I could blackout and fall off the stool while holding a hot pan if i remember right with DLA it was not only the frequency of the blackouts but also the risk of having them and causing injury to yourself or others ...it seems with pip they are making it up as they go along and reducing a lot of claims knowing a lot of claimants will not risk an appeal fearing that they could lose the whole award or part of it .
There's a section in the PIP Claim guide that covers safety and supervision.
