Mobility component for autism? was created by ianrstaves@gmail.com
The DWP have announced that they will be contacting a number of people regarding backdated claims for the mobility component of PiP for those with autism.

Reading this was a relief but was vague, to my mind.

Who will they be contacting and how would one know if one will be contacted?

I have autism, I have a car and drive but do not leave the house unless absolutely necessary and do not do so without my PA or someone I am familiar with and my dog. If it isn't, it causes great stress and I am absolutely unable to do this alone.

According to the PiP criteria, the most suitable option is "cannot undertake any journey because it would cause overwhelming psychological distress to the claimant." 10 points.

I went to the tribunal at the time as I disagreed with the DWP's decision but they implied that they would do away with my claim entirely if I proceeded any further. I was shocked into silence and withdrew it for fear of losing it altogether.

I would like to know if I will be one of these people contacted. If not, do I contact someone about this or do I wait until my PiP claim is up for renewal/reassessment?

Indeed, when it is up for renewal, what will happen? Will it be a questionnaire or the whole application form and face to face assessment all over again?

Lastly but not least, reading the disabled badge card, if I did qualify for the mobility component and scored ten points, would this enable me to obtain a blue badge?

Many thanks for your help!

Dope spine

All of the information that is currently available is in the following

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum1?view=topic&catid=10&id=120473

The criteria for leaving the house were not effected by these changes so I am not sure that you would be contacted.

As to renewals, we will have to wait and see.
