ESA and homownership. was created by Chrissiefeeny
Hello there.
My son gets ESA IR and is in the support group. At present we are renting a house.
If we buy a house and put it in his name, will he lose his ESA?

If he then lives in the house then it should be no problem as far as I can see.

Thanks Gordon.
We were not sure if it would be treated as having ownership of a property, which you have to declare on the original ESA IR form. Meaning, he would then have an amount over the £16.000.....though not in savings.......
