From WRAG to Support Group!! was created by Ann
Hi,
After my esa assessment in January I have been placed in the SG which is such a massive relief!! I was paid at the usual esa rate for WRAG but I have been told, not by the DWP, that I should receive a back payment for the balance - another £20 something per week - from when I sent my claim form in June last year. If not then that`s fine, I`m just delighted to be in the SG and not have to worry for the next 18 months, but does anyone know if it`s true about the balance being back dated please?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Who initiated the reassessment, did you report a Change of Circumstances?
If you did then I would expect the ESA to be backdated to the date that you contacted the DWP.
If the DWP initiated the reassessment then I would expect it to apply from the day that the Decision was made unless the Decision Maker believes there is compelling evidence to back date.

Hi Gordon,
It was the DWP who initiated the reassessment so it looks like a no.
Thank you for your reply.
