I’m awaiting the decision of the mandatory reconsideration for my PIP claim.
From the very beginning, I fully expected to end up at appeal with my PIP claim.. I’ve heard all the stories and braced myself.
I’ve just had my daughters mandatory reconsideration for child DLA refused. I’m going to appeal.
I wasn’t expecting this! She has recently been diagnosed with the same condition as my son (an autism spectrum disorder), and when I applied for my sons DLA for the first time in 2015 it was awarded within three weeks, no question.
When I had to reapply December 2016, it was reawarded, albeit at a slightly lower rate.
I really wasn’t expecting this outcome for my daughter.
I just wonder if you can advise me… is there a trend where the DWP are refusing more child DLA claims, in the same way that it has become very hard to be awarded PIP, until one gets to appeal?
Many thanks

I don't see enough Child DLA claims here or on the other forums that I check regularly to comment on any trend with claims.
The big problem with child claims is that part of the assessment is comparing the child's problems to other children of the same age, so although your son also sufferers from the same condition you can't assume an award for your daughter.
Have a look at our DLA resources, there is a guide to Child DLA and a number of guides for appealing.
